Eux in English!

Eux is a French improv troupe. We perform in Paris, France. Some of us come from a theater background, but most of us have learned improvisation with the French competitive format “Le Match d’Improvisation”.

We became very quickly interested with other improv theories, namely the Keith Johnstone approach and more recently Del Close’s work with the Harold, which we perform regularly. Recently, alongside the Harold and the short-form we regularly do, we have started working on directed improvisation with the “More or Less” format.

Inspiration
Impro for Storytellers, Keith Johnstone
Impro, Keith Johnstone
Improvise: Scenes from the inside out, Mick Napier
Truth in Comedy, Del Close

Guest Teachers
As an ensemble, we have worked with:
- Patti Stiles, artistic director of Impro Melbourne in March 2008,
- Rob Reese, artistic director of Amnesia Wars (New York) in April 2008,
- Tim Baltz from Second City’s Touring Company (Chicago) in June 2008,
- Megan Grano from Second City Etc. (Chicago) in July 2008,
- Kevin Gillese & Kurt Smeaton from Scratch/Rapid Fire (Edmonton) in October 2008,
- Shawn Kinley from Loose Moose (Calgary) in February 2009.

If you wish to come to Paris and maybe give us a workshop, please contact us at euximpro@gmail.com, we are very interested!

Influences
We never miss an opportunity to take a workshop with international (or national) improv and theater teachers, and have thus been influenced by: Keith Johnstone, Steve Jarand, Derek Flores, Ira Seidenstein, La GATA Impro, Inspinazie, Le Théâtre de l’Oignon, Stjärnfall…

Festivals
Some of us attended the 2008 Leuven International Improv Festival as spectators and workshop participants. We participated as guests in the 2008 World Domination TheatreSports Tournament held by Dad’s Garage Theater in Atlanta.

Friends
Here are some groups we consider friends. Maybe we’ve played with them, maube we took workshops with them: in any case, we like them.
- Impro & Co (Stockholm)
- The Improfessionals (Paris)
- Dad’s Garage Theatre (Atlanta)

If we’ve met at some international gathering and you’ve liked us: leave us a comment! Just right here below…
